Connecting an open, inclusive, collaborative global network of physiotherapists at all levels of SMA experience and training

With the availability of disease modifying therapies, there is an urgent demand to develop an educational program that would provide PTs worldwide the necessary knowledge and training to contribute to patient care and clinical research. For several decades, a small group of international PTs from SMA clinical research networks contributed to the understanding of the natural history, developed outcome measures, defined the standards of PT care for SMA, trained evaluators for clinical trials, and helped evaluate the efficacy of treatments. With our broad, diverse experience, we are uniquely positioned to develop this program and network to meet the expanding and unmet need in SMA.
